In a world that worships busyness, productivity, and movement, God's gift of rest stands out as a precious and often overlooked blessing. The Bible frequently emphasizes the importance of rest, and in the book of Matthew, Jesus himself invites us to find rest in Him: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).
We are pausing this weekend to embrace this gift of rest as a community. We will not host our weekly worship gathering, but we hope that you will take some time to work through this Thanksgiving journal that we have put together for you to reflect on 2024 and lean into 2025.
We believe embracing God's gift of rest is essential for our spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being. In Genesis 2:2- 3, God reminds us of his example of resting on the seventh day after creating the world, setting a precedent for us to follow. It's a time to restore our bodies, rejuvenate our spirits, and rekindle our connections with God and others.
